Creator and Designer: Crystal Andrews

Occupation: Software Engineer

Wife, mother of two(son and daughter), and a heart for creating crafts. Mrs. Andrews, along with the help of her mother created Pretty Puff Dolls in 2002. Here’s the story:

Afro Puffs and Ponytails: Mrs. Andrews, tell us a little about the inspiration behind these cute adorable, precious Pretty Puff Dolls.

Crystal Andrews: The idea for Pretty Puffs was born in 2002 as a result of the challenges that many minorities face when attempting to purchase dolls with multicultural characteristics. There is an overwhelming need to ensure that our children are supplied images which reflect the multicultural nature of their surroundings. In doing so, they learn to love themselves and grow into well adjusted adults.

Afro Puffs and Ponytails: How are Pretty Puff Dolls different from other dolls we see on the market?

Crystal Andrews: Plush in design, what distinguishes Pretty Puffs from similar dolls is its unique style of hair, styled into afro-puff pony tails. In general the market has been reluctant to include dolls of such distinction and characteristics. Pretty Puffs are made to show multicultural girls, teens, and women that being different, having brown skin and kinky hair is absolutely a thing of beauty.

Afro Puffs and Ponytails: What age group do you think will enjoy having a Pretty Puff Doll?

Crystal Andrews: Pretty Puffs are perfect for the little girl that enjoys playing with a beautiful doll that looks like her, to the adult woman that still cherishes her inner child, or the avid doll collector that would like to add a unique and distinct doll to their collection. Pretty puffs love to keep you company and provide long lasting cheer!

○ and, any where else you like!

Making dolls with natural hair is very inspiring. Everydoll does not have long flowy hair & I am excited to see we now have dolls that reflect that!

I am so glad they finally have a product for our ethnicity. I truly wish I had one when I was growing up.
