Mission

Our motto is, “one little girl can change the world. Our mission is to show every young lady in the program that they can indeed be “that girl.” TOMORROW’S GIRLS is a learn-by-doing program created for young ladies, to help them better understand who they are and why they think, feel and behave the way they do. Once youth know these things about themselves, they will be more empowered to take responsibility for their actions.

Afro Puffs and Ponytails is constantly searching for information about camps, clubs and organizations, and mentoring programs to provide as resources for parents and community organizers. It is our hopes that each resource provided will serve to build confidence, enhance self esteem, develop leadership skills, empower, uplift and educate our African American girls. We are not recommending these programs, but offering a starting point for you to conduct your own evaluation and research about whether a program is right for your child.

Our new film The Impact of Being Human is a thirty minute look at mental health in our communities. It is a profound experience that will encourage discussion, self-reflection, and may well save lives.

•Learn how the body and brain function
•Widen the view of how see ourselves and others
•Observe how we can dispel the stigma of mental health
•See how your mental health impacts a community

If you would like to see the film for free, we’re posting it on a private You-Tube link for three weeks. If you like the film, we hope you will share a three sentence review we may quote at upcoming promotional events. The movie will be released to schools and businesses in February (and comes with a Trainer Guide as well as a course version on MP4s).

It seems with all the personal dissatisfaction, increasing intolerance, escalating anger, and senseless violence … we feel a film such as this is needed, We hope to receive your brief recommendation by December 31, 2015.
